Honduras is one of the poorest countries in Latin America. 76% of the population lives in poverty. Many children in disadvantaged areas are without shoes, which is particularly difficult in the rainy season. Lack of shoes is an important health issue for children, as parasites can easily enter shoeless feet and effect children’s health and nutrition. All types of shoes are needed–rain boots, crocs, dress shoes, sneakers, sandals are all appreciated.

We can help arrange for you to send the shoes to a volunteer in your area to avoid shipping costs to Honduras. You may also donate money to Dar a Luz for our shoe project and we will purchase shoes locally. The cost of buying a pair of inexpensive water proof shoes is $3.50. If you are interested in donating shoes, please contact us.
